Didn't take long for trouble to strike

Not even 2 weeks into this being my full-time situation I've run into trouble. Monday morning I packed up and was heading into town from the mountains to get some food and lots of water (its been HOT) - driving down the forest road I started hearing a not so great noise, turns out the alternator decided it would say it's final goodbyes. I was about 30ish minutes from the nearest tiny mountain town. Once I realized what the issue was, I hauled ass as quick as I good hoping to make it into town and not get stranded in the woods. Thankfully, I made it into town. Its a tiny town, population barely over 100. There is a napa repair shop/parts store. Nothing else for many miles. I pull in, and go ask about an alternator. For reference, I have about $140 to my name. For some god foresaken reason, the alternator for this 20 year old mass produced dodge van is nearly $300! What!? I leave and go sit outside in the little bit of shade I could find, trying to not have a panic attack while trying to figure something out. I have no family, I have very few friends, I'm a trans person stranded in this tiny mountain town. After a few hours, I was able to borrow some money from one of my oldest friends back in Arizona. So, I go back in hoping to buy the alternator and expecting to be able to borrow some tools so I could do it myself. Turns out this is the only auto parts store I've ever been to that won't loan you basic tools for a job like this. I'm assuming thats because it's attached to a repair shop, but not sure. So after talking to the guy for a little, he realizes that the van is my home and that it's literally all I have. I legit have nothing else minus a very small bit of stuff in a tiny storage unit 4 hours from here..So we work it out and he says that they will replace it for me on Tuesday around 1pm. I dropped the van off early tuesday morning and walked down to the small town library so I could have some refuge from the sun and heat. I come back around 4pm and see the van hasn't moved. Go in and the guy was not in a good mood or something today and was essentially being a dick. He says "didn't get to it today, do it tomorrow". I remind him that I literally have nowhere to go and he says "I don't care where you go" and I'm just standing there on the verge of tears, with no idea why he is suddenly having this attitude. So I just come out to the van and cried for a minute before regaining my composure and just accepting that I was stranded here another night. So for the second night in a row, I'm camped out in a napa parking lot right off the towns main road. At least he was okay with me staying here if nothing else (not like I could go far). I'm sorry for the long winded rant, I know this probably isn't the best place to post a rant like that but I just needed to vent a little bit and didn't know where else to do it. I should finally get rolling again tomorrow, but I will literally be penniless and my whole mood has been shifted after what was honestly a pretty good first week or so. I've been working on the job thing and might have something brewing (just a part time shellfish farm gig), but in the meantime I'm kind of at a loss now, I had been carefully watching every single penny that I have and now all the pennies are gone. (And yes, I know very well that you should have some money saved for things that happen just like this, that is a luxury I didn't have right now though). Thanks for listening, sorry again for the rant.
